My favourite sunday's breakfast!

Is since when I've seen the first time Kramer vs. Kramer with Dustin Hoffman Meryl Streep that I have an insane passion for french toast; do you remember the scene where Dustin Hoffman cooks for the first time the french toast for his son?!?!?!, it's memorable!!!!
I've tried some different recipes for french toast, but all were too much fatty, but finally I've found a good one!

Ricotta french toast:
1 whole egg
1 tablespoon of milk
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of honey
2 slices whole wheat bread
1 tablespoon of ricotta cheese
1/2 cup of blackberries (usually I use blueberries)
1 tablespoon of sugar
marple syrup

In a bowl whisk together the egg, milk, cinnamon and honey.
Carefully dip each slice of the bread into the egg/milk mixture, letting slices soak up mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.

Now you can cook them in the oven, preheat at 180°/190° for 12 minutes until crisp or, and this is what I prefer, you can put them on a cooking grate, I'm in love with the Ballarini's grate... and cook both sides.

  1. Mmmmmmmm. Although I'm not entirely sure about the ricotta :-)

The first time I had French toast was a year or two after moving to Milan! Hahahahaha.

  2. You can't tasted the ricotta, but you can try also without.

I'm not sure in France are used to have French toast, and I've never tried them in France...
